Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided treatments such as pancreatic pseudocyst drainage, biliary drainage and pancreatic duct drainage, have recently been developed as advanced techniques of EUS-guided fine needle aspiration. Therefore, challenging cases under the conventional technique such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography can be treated under EUS guidance. According to previous reports, the technical success rate is high. However, the rate of adverse events is also still high, and the adverse events are sometimes fatal. It is extremely important for endoscopists to have full knowledge about the various kinds of adverse events that may be encountered, take measures to prevent adverse events, and treat any adverse events that occur.
