Abstract
A38-year-old woman with the Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, who had been followed up for26years, was admitted to our hospital complaining of obstructive j aundice. Sixteen monthsprior to the obstructive jaundice, numerous intestinal polyps, greater than 2cm diameter, were surgically removed. At the present workup, endoscopy revealed a Borrman 2 typecancer in the second portion of the duodenum. The patient underwent pancreatico-duodenectomy for the duodenal carcinoma. Seven months later, the patient died ofmultiple metastases. In a review of the literature, we found 25 cases of duodenal cancer in patients withPeutz-Jeghers syndrome. A periodic check-up of the duodenum was considered importantfor the patients with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome from the point of view of these cases.
