Abstract
Nodular gastritis is associated with H. pylori infection and has granular nodules mainly in the antrum. We assessed the influence of H. pylori eradication therapy on endoscopic and histopathological findings in 28 patients with nodular gastritis who could be followed up. Endoscopy revealed disappearance and improvement of granular nodules in 15 and 2 of 17 patients showing successful H. pylori eradication respectively, while it disclosed disappearance or improvement of granular nodules in 4 of 11 patients who failed in eradication or did not receive eradication therapy. Histopathological examination revealed improvement of histological gastritis in the patients showing successful eradication, while it disclosed no change in the severity of gastritis in the patients who did not receive H. pylori eradication therapy or failed in eradication. In conclusion, both endoscopic and histopathological findings improved when H. pylori eradicated successfully, while there was no correlation between them when H. pylori eradication therapy was not performed or resulted in failure.
