Abstract
Hydroxyl radical (OH radical) is appreciated to be the strongest oxidant in the atmosphere. OH radicals play an important role in the chemistry (oxidative reaction) and composition of the troposphere because of its high reactivity. But, OH radical concentration and production processes of OH radical in aerosol particle have not been understood well. Based on the measurement of OH radical photo-formation in aerosol particles at Okinawa Island, we tried to resolve oxidation reactions in aerosol particles during their transportation. The purposes of this study were; 1) to measure OH radical photo-formation in aerosol particles, 2) to estimate the rates and 3) to understand the mechanisms of OH radical photo-formation in aerosol particles.
