Noble gases and oxygen isotopes in Tafassasset

Abstract

Tafassasset was classified into brachinite (a group of achondrites) according to mineralogical features. However, oxygen isotope composition of it was reported to be distinct from those of known brachinites and similar to CR chondrites. In this study, we determined oxygen isotopic compositions and noble gas elemental and isotopic compositions of Tafassasset. We compare them with those of brachinites and other meteorite groups including CR chondrites, and origin and history of the meteorite is discussed.
