Abstract
Racah (E1 and E3) parameters for lanthanide dihydride series relative to Ln3+(g) series have been inferred by applying Jorgensen-Kawabe equation to the heats of formation for the series. The Racah parameters of lanthanide dihydride series are much smaller than those for the free Ln3+(g) series. The bonding of Ln(III) with H produces relatively larger covalency to 4f-orbitals and a peculiar tetrad effects in the series changes of their thermo-chemical data.
