Seasonal variation of Mg/Ca ratios in drip waters of caves in Akiyoshi-dai Plateau, Yamagchi.

Abstract

The Mg/Ca ratios of stalagmite would indicate the past temperature information and the past deposition rates of stalagmite. However, plants biomass could be the magnesium reservoir because plants require the magnesium as an essential element and the magnesium is released after plants died. The seasonal variation of magnesium in drip waters of caves in Akiyoshi-dai Plateau, Yamaguchi prefecture was related the change of the plant activities.
