Abstract
Previous studies indicated that dissolution rate constants of basalt reacted with aqueous solutions are significantly different. It is inferred that dissolution constants relate to Si:O ratio, crystal:glass ratio, alteration, weathering and structure and properties of basalt glass. Using the dissolution rate constantsfor different basalt (ridge basalt and island arc basalt) and based on kinetics model, simulations for the underground sequestration in underground basalt aquifer were performed and the results on the amount of carbon dioxide fixed as solubility trapping and mineral trapping will be shown.
