Isomorphous Ln(III) series of LnVO₄(tet.): the lanthanide tetrad effect in the lattice constants and Ln-O distances.

Abstract

Since Ln(III) of LnVO₄(tet.) series has smaller Racah parameters thanfree Ln(III) ion, the lattice enthalpies of LnVO₄(tet.) series are expected to show a convex tetrad effect like those of Ln2O3(cub). On the equilibrium conditions for the lattice enthalpy for LnVO₄(tet.). this tetrad effect reflects in the series changes of lattice constants and Ln-O distances in LnVO₄(tet.) series.
