Precise determinations of 14 REE with isotope dilution ICP mass spectrometry

Abstract

Geochemical reference samples BCR-2, JA-3 and JB-3 were examined. Rock powders with enriched isotopes were decomposed with HF and HNO3 and HClO4. After the group separation of REEs from major elements, the REEs were separated further to light REE (La, Ce, Pr, Nd), middle REE (Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb) and heavy REE (Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) with alpha-HIBA media. ICP-MS (Elan 6100, Perkin Elmer) at KOPRI were used for the analysis. The obtained values agree within ±5% with reference values published except for La and Ce.
