Abstract
It is suggested that early Earth's atmosphere contained a substantial amount of methane. In such a reducing atosphere, organic aerosols would have been formed by solar UV and high energy particle irradiations. We investigate the formation rate and optical properties of organic aerosols by performing laboratory experiments. On the basis of the experimental results, we discuss the role of organic aerosol for climate stability and atmospheric evolution of early Earth.
