We propose a new method to incorporate errors and uncertainties of multivariate data, including geochemical data, into cluster analysis. The errors and uncertainties of the individual data points enlarge the effective variance of the overall data distribution. We take this effective variance into account for cluster analysis, and demonstrate how such an enlarged variance affects the results of cluster analysis using the synthetic data.
