Abstract

History of origin of petroleum, upper mantle as sink of hydrocarbon, organic matter in accretionary-prism/granite and hydrocarbons in serpentinite are discussed based on several researches including author’s current study from view point of petroleum geochemistry in order to clarify organic geochemistry of biogenic/abiogenic hydrocarbons in deep crust and upper mantle. According to the results several kinds of organic matter, which origins are biogenic and abiogenic, are suggested to exist in the in deep crust and upper mantle. Researches for the ratios and distributions of organic matter in the deep zone will produce key information for deep biosphere, new hydrocarbon resources and deep carbon cycles.
