The method getting the outline from a specified shape on picture that is gotten from a video camera, a satellite or an aeroptlotograph is reported. As the outline of a graduation circle on a meter can be used to make a vernier by computer, the method of using a multi-vernier to obtain an accurate data is explained.
Another application of outline is used to estimate Fractal Dimension which is one of the feature of a topographic map to recognize land shape from the picture accurately.
