Abstract

This paper was published in error prior to the publication of the gibbon genome sequence assembly and analysis by the Gibbon Genome Analysis Consortium.
The genome sequence is provided to the public pre-publication to allow research to proceed faster than the genome analysis would allow These sequences are typically covered by the Fort Lauderdale (1) and later Toronto (2) agreements whereby the data users ask permission to use the pre-publication data and cite the appropriate source.
The authors of the paper did not understand these rules correctly, and did not seek permis-sion to use the pre-publication data, which led to the erroneous publication of the paper. The authors apologize to the Gibbon Genome Analysis Consortium for the error, and state here that the paper should be regarded as an invalid publication until the paper describing the gibbon genome sequence assembly and analysis is published by the Consortium.
