The author has described in this report the mode of occurrence and inheritance of various xantha types. There are, in rice, various xantha genes, and some of those, no doubt, behave as duplicate genes. The genes XaII, XaII, chI and chII seem to be situated on different chromosomes. Coexistence of Xa and Ch genes are necessary for normal chlorophyll development.
