Abstract
By means of a gold decoration transmission electron microscopy technique, many kinds of microtopographic patterns with a 7-10Å step height were observed on (001) surfaces of clay minerals with growth patterns, e.g. cleavage, stacking layer and crystal aggregation patterns and so on. This paper deals with the arrangement for the gold decoration technique which is performed in our laboratory, and its techincal problems, showing surface morphologies of clay minerals.
