Abstract
It is more than 170 years ago when vulcanization by sulfur was first discovered. ZnO was first used around the end of Meiji era (1868-1912), and vulcanizing accelerators were introduced in Japan about 1919. These factors have contributed to the progress of the current vulcanizing foundation. Thereafter various kinds of rubber and compounding agents have increased, and mixing proportion has become more and more complex. This chapter is a summary, which is focusing on sulfur vulcanizing agents.
