Abstract
In this study, we tested 10 antioxidants of phenol type and 7 of amine type among commercial antioxidants as photodeqradation inhibitors.
Each one part of above antioxidants was admixed to base latex composition and rubber threads, possesing great surface area to show the deteriorating action of ultra-violet rays clearly, were prepared by extruding and vulcanizing the latex mixture then the weather-o-meter test was executed on the test threads.
But we were unable to find out especially effective ones.
However in proportion of the effects, we classified the antioxidants into four groups for a while.
Group 1.
2, 2′-methylene bis(4-ethyl-6-tert. butyl phenol)
phenol condensate A
phenol condensate B
N-phenyl-N′-isopropyl-p-phenylene diamine
Group 2.
4, 4′-thio bis (3-methyl-6-tert. butyl phenol)
phenol condensate C
Octylated diphenyl amine
N, N′-di-beta-naphthyl-p-phenylene diamine
phenyl-beta-naphtyhl amine
Group 3.
2, 5-ditert. butyl hydroquinone
hydroquinone mono benzyl ether
Group 4.
Styrene phenol condensate
4, 4′-dihydroxy diphenyl
N, N-diphenyl ethylene diamine
aldol-alpha-naphthyl amine
poly trimethyl dihydroquinoline
