Abstract
The method of rapid determination of blended rubbers by pyrolysis gas-chromatography was discussed.By this method the blending ratios of NR-SBR and CR-SBR could be easily determined. EPT, NBR, IIR, Halogenated IIR and Chlorosulfonated polyethylene could be determined qualitatively, but the difference between IIR and Halogenated IIR could not be known.
The outlines of the analytical methods are as follows;
(1) 0.3g. of vulcanized rubber is weighed and pyrolized in silica tube at about 700°C into gaseous phase
(2) The gases are analyzed by gas-chromatography.
(3) From the ratios of the characteristic peaks of vulcanized rubbers the kinds and blending ratios of rubbers are determined respectively.
The time required to analyze is about 30 minutes and the reliability of quantitative data is within 3% for NR-SBR blended polymers and 5% for CR-SBR blended polymers.
