Abstract

In the present paper, the influences of curing system on the parameters in the third asymptote are studied especially.
According to the statistical theory of extremes, the effects of curing system can be divided into two broad classes : one refers to the role in rubber matrix as flaws resulting from heterogeneous structure of networks formed by curing, while the other is related to matrix itself. Thus, the influences of curing system on the distribution may be regarded as mutual effects of the two.
In 1/α vs. ε coordinates, the curing system is found to behave differently from the filler. The plotteddata points are scattered along the fixed δ-curve, even if the curing system is changed at a given amount ofparticular filler. This fact suggests that the effects of curing system on the distribution, being directly reflected in the values of location parameters, are closely connected with the rubber matrix itself.
