Abstract
Block copolymers of methylacrylate (MA) with poly-styrene (PSt) having pendant vinyl groups or PSt having vinyl end groups were investigated.
PSt having vinyl groups was prepared from a copolymer of St with vinylene carbonate. The decomposition of the part of vinylene carbonate gave poly (St-co-vinylen-glycol). A pendant methacrylate was introduced through reaction of adjacent glycol with methacrylic chloride. PSt having carboxyl end groups was perpared through decomposition of the adjacent glycol. The reaction of carboxyl groups with vinyl acetate gave PSt having vinyl acetate end derivatives.
Since the block copolymers of PSt-derivatives with MA were transparent materials, PSt block was plasticised with PMA block.
The results of tests on the dynamic viscoelastisity show very broad tan δ peaks as well as the effect of block copolymer.
