Abstract
Sulfone-ether-diamine oligomers (SED oligomers) were prepared by the condensation of p-aminophenol, bisphenol A and dichlorodiphenyl sulfone. The oligomers were mixed with chlorine-containing elastomers, such as chlorinated polyethylene (CPE), chloroprene rubber (CR), epichlorohydrine rubber (CHR) and epichlorohydrine-ethylene oxide rubber (CHC), and the physical properties of their vulcanizates were examined.
As the result, it was found that the tensile properties and heat resistance of vulcanizates were improved by the compounding of SED oligomers. Through an increased crosslink density of the vulcanizates, the SED oligomers may be estimated to contribute to the crosslinking reaction.
