Abstract

We studied improvement of solid rubber by adding hydroxyterminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and phenolic resin. As the results of our study, tensile strength of vulcanized rubber were improved by addition of HTPB or modified HTPB. In spite of high hardness, the vulcanized rubber compounds by solid rubber with HTPB or modified HTPB showed high modulus at low elongation range, high breaking strength and high elongation at rupture break at once. And by adding HTPB or modified HTPB together with phenolic resin, vulcanized compounds showed excellent tensile properties. with above, addition of HTPB or modified HTPB showed excellent processability by decreasing the viscosity of rubber compound in the course of processing.
