Abstract
The effectiveness and safety of geological disposal of radioactive waste contained in vitrified waste are outlined. Globally, the correct understanding of geological disposal of radioactive waste is becoming increasingly necessary. However, the current situation in Japan is very lagging compared to the efforts of advanced radioactive waste disposal such as Northern Europe and the understanding of the safety of geological disposal in the treatment of radioactive waste by citizens. For this reason, efforts for waste disposal projects such as selection of disposal sites, such as efforts to improve the reliability of geological disposal technology, publication of Scientific Characteristic Map etc., knowledge management for dissemination of outcomes System development is urgent.
