Abstract
Kamaishi city district includes Kamaishi city and Kasshi village.
The former has a large iron-foundry and the latter has grown along a gorge as housing area for the workers of the foundry and is divided into small sections -Kosano, Kogawa Sadanai, Noda, Matsukura, Ohata, Dosen, Omatsu and Ohashi.
One road, one railway and one special railway go through the gorge parallel with one another.
The writer analyzed the communication phenomena of passengers in this district and got the following results.
(1) Y=3.32X-103.78
proviso Y=number of commuters
X=number of general passengers
Coefficient 3.32 is far larger than in any other cases in Iwate Prefecture.
(2) All kinds of transportation here work together for one purpose, that is for the foundry. The percentage of passengers of the transportation show strata form on the graph. (Fig. 2)
(3) _??_=_??_-0.064 (1) modified
_??_=_??_-0.068 (2) unmodified
proviso P=The number of people departed from Kosano,
Matsukura and other stations to Ka iaishi.
M=The total number of passengers departed from Kosano.
Matsukura and other stations.
R=Distance represented by hours (minutes here)
between Kamaishi and Kosano, Matsura, etc.
These results can be expected in the analysis of communication phenomena in any other cases, but here in Kamaishi city district the phe nomena were specially remarkable.
