Abstract
Unitary orientation of geography is here pointed out by referring to the writings of various authors from the classical antiquity up to the present. Recent strong tendency of diver sif ication, which is liable to lead our discipline to pluralism, and its causes and problems arising therefrom, are briefly dealt with; and measures for maintaining its unity such as the mutual exchange of ideas in . the international arenas of IGU meetings and the improvement of educational procedures of professional geographers iu universities are proposed.
