Abstract

In this paper, we reported the results of the chemical composition analysis of the glass beads from the Kono collection of Asahikawa City Museum. Folklore materials we studied were one of the cultural properties that characterize Sakhalin and Hokkaido during the Ainu culture period. We brought portable X-ray fluorescent spectrometer to the collection facility. As a result, the glass could be classified into 4 chemical types : lead silicate glass, soda lime silicate glass, potash lime silicate glass and mixed alkali glass. We have obtained new knowledge on the chemical composition of folklore materials transmitted to Sakhalin province.
