How Things were Going at Time Around Operation of MLF Started

Abstract

This article aims to describe what happened in the transition period from construction to operation of J-PARC/MLF (Materials and Life Experimental Facility). Beside organizing MLF division framework after the construction completion, as J-PARC is the user facility, we were requested to establish a good program advisory committees and to make advance, and a way to appreciate user’s opinion. Appreciating N-TAC (Neutron Technical Advisory Committee), it was a time of transition from facility construction toward instrumentation and user program system formation. As all was challenging issues, nevertheless, we had to establish user program before beam on target. The initial process associated with MLF operation is reviewed. It should be noted that all views relevant to MLF are based on my personal view.
