Abstract
AKANE is a triple-axis neutron spectrometer, which has been upgraded recently. Inelastic scattering is observable with combination of a monochromator of Ge (311) and an analyzer of PG (002) in AKANE. Surprisingly, inelastic-scattering signals are detectable with reasonable statistics up to ω=10 meV, indicating validity of Ge monochromators for research on low-energy excitations in condensed matter physics.
