The author tested the effect of rivanol in several cases of leper and drew the following conclusions.1)The treatment of leprous ulcers with rivanol was found extremely reasonable.2)1/10, 000 solution of the chemical prevented the growth of lepe bacilli on culture media after one minute. 3)An intravenous injection(20-40cc, of 0, 2% solution)brought no marked by-effect.In severe cusses it proved little curative action, but could be combined with other treatment to prevent the progress of the diseasc. 4)Since rivanol showed a remarkable effect in early cases of lepra maculosa(within one year after onset), an intravenous infections of the chemical should be employed as as abortive treatment in early cases of leper.
