I have investigated the blood of lepers by the method of Schilling's hemogram and gained the following results.
1) The number of erythrocytes was 4, 5 millions in the inactive form and 4, 38 millions in the active form. It was found less than the usual number in healthy bodies.
2) The percentage of hemogrobine was higher in male cases than in female cases, but much lower in lepers than in healthy bodies.
3) The colour index was exceedingly lowered.
4) The number of leucocytes was 7800 in the inactive form and 9000 in the active form.
5) Eosinophilie leucocytes increased in number in the inactive form, and decreased in the active form.
6) In neu_??_rophile leucocytes no myelocytes were found. The number of metamyelocytes showed no variation in the inactive form, but very much increased in the active form. Staffnuclear leucocytes decreased in number in the inactive form, but increased in the active form. the number of segment-nuclear leucocytes increased.
7) The index of a nuclear dislocation on the left increased slightly in the inactive form, and markedly in the active form.
8) Lymphocytes and monocytes showed little change from those of healthy bodies.
9) In a thick microscopic smear polychromasy and basophile points were demonstrated. The rate of polychromasy was 19, 2 in one microscopic field in the inactive form, and 24, 4 in one field in the active form. The rate of basophile points was 10 in one field in the inactive form, and 15, 2 in the active form.
