Abstract
In 1934, Prof. Y. Horikawa reported occurrence of Neckeropsis gracilenta (Bosch & Sande Lac.) M.Fleisch. from Isl. Haha-jima, the Bonin Islands, Japan. However, no additional record of this species was reported from Japan. We looked for the specimens of this species reported by Prof. Horikawa in the Herbarium of the Hiroshima University. Two Horikawa’s specimens of this species were found in the bryophyte herbarium (HIRO). These specimens were identified correctly as N. gracilenta. We studied specimens of Neckeropsis collected in the Bonin Islands, and confirmed this species are still living on Isl. Haha-jima, and Isl. Chichi-jima, the Bonin Islands, Japan.
