Communication Management Functions of the Balanced Scorecard: Toward Clarification of Communication Structure

Abstract

This paper aims to clarify some of the communication management functions of the BSC. The analysis method uses a review of case studies on healthcare BSC in Japan and an interview survey in Taiwan. In addition, analysis is conducted using semiotics to clarify the communication structure. The results show that the BSC is a useful communication management tool for building an organization’s common language (shared context).
