Abstract

Solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) is expected, in principle, to provide the higher efficiency of the hydrogen production compared with the conventional low-temperature electrolysis methods, because the applied voltage can be reduced due to its favorable thermodynamic and kinetic properties. However, Issues to be addressed for practical application of SOEC, such as improvement of long-term durability and development of system technologies, have been shown.
