Abstract

In recent years, interest in hydrogen, especially green hydrogen, has been increasing in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In this paper, I describe various methods of hydrogen production from hydrocarbon raw materials, including synthetic gas production and purification from synthetic gas to high-purity hydrogen, the history of the development of hydrogen production equipment in the Daigas Group, and compact hydrogen production equipment "HYSERVE". Then I introduce same cases of hydrogen production from biogas by steam reforming implemented in Japan. Finally, I describe a comparison of CO2 emissions during hydrogen production using steam reformers and water electrolyzers during the transition period to a low-carbon and decarbonized society.
