A naturalized plant, Cotula australis (Sieber ex Spreng.) Hook.f. (Asteraceae), was found from some additional localities in Hiroshima Prefecture, Honshu, southwestern Japan, based on field observation and herbarium specimens. The sequences of nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (nr ITS) and the chloroplast psbA–trnH intergenic non-transcribed spacer (cp psbA–trnH) were used for DNA barcoding. Phylogenetic analyses supported the polyphyly of Cotula and the sister relationship of C. australis and C. turbinata.
