Systematic arrangement of Japanese mosses

Abstract

Names of Japanese mosses (Phylum Bryophyta), including their Classes, Subclasses, Orders, Families, and Genera, are arranged according to accepted taxonomic opinions based on literature published up to the end of December 2023. The Japanese name for each of the taxa is also given. In this systematic arrangement, 7 classes, 6 subclasses, 39 orders, 96 families, and 401 genera are recognized in Japan.
