Study of the electronic device with lead-free solder mounted on ships

Abstract

The toxic eff ects of lead are well known thus reducing lead in solders is important for the environment and the human health. Using the lead-free solders are being required to electronic devices on ships. NISHISHIBA ELECTRIC CO., LTD. and the members of Hiroshima-maru examined the Auto Voltage Regulator (AVR) with lead-free solder on Hiroshima-maru. The defects on the AVR caused from the shipʼs　vibration and temperature were not found out in these examinations.
