Abstract

In learning of the issue of vibration, it is important to know the essence of problems like resonance, natural frequency, natural vibration mode and so on. However, it is hard to really understand these phenomena very much. So, the authors developed an experimental equipment of rectilinear vibration system with three degrees of freedom for the purpose of observing vibration of mechanical systems(with special attention on resonance and natural vibration mode). In addition, we simulated this vibration system by using dynamics simulation system for teaching (DSS) and determined the optimum configuration of machinery. The main conclusions are obtained as follows: using the developed experimental equipment, we clearly observed the primary, secondary and tertiary resonances and natural vibration modes; the results of vibration simulation using DSS agreed very well with the experimental results; it was very effective to use DSS in the development of the experimental equipment for observation of vibration phenomenon.
