We design and realize a widely expanded virtual workspace on a computer display by employing the notion of layered perceptive visualization of multi-windows. The windows in each layer are for the user’s specific task, and a user can do his/her complicated tasks by traversing freely within the space. When the tasks requiring many windows are being done, various windows in the different layers will be overlapped, and then it becomet difficult to clarify which windows belong to which layers. To solve this problem we prepare, based on the movement parallax, the mechanism such that the windows in the different layers are moved differently reflecting the user’s looking into action. The proposed workspace was evaluated by the subjects who are experienced in working under a Windows environment.
