抄録
It is essential for the students specialized in engineering to have a certain competence in English. In a College of Technology in Japan, they start their course when they are still as young as in upper secondary education. To prepare the students for the later education, it is better to start their learning of basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, earth sciences, and so on, in English as early as possible. Using science textbooks for secondary school students in English speaking countries is a way to meet the needs. We have been using a science textbook in several courses. The results and problems are reported.
