The Horticulture Journal (Renamed from Journal of the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science)

 

The Japanese Society for Horticultural Science (JSHS), which was founded in 1923, published the first issue of the Journal of the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science (JJSHS) in 1925. After its change into a full English-language journal in 2007, JJSHS has been published quarterly and contains important results from cutting-edge research worldwide.

JJSHS has been renamed “The Horticulture Journal” (Hort. J.) in order to enhance its presence in the world horticultural community and to transform it into an internationally renowned leading journal. To achieve those objectives, many professionals from all over the world have been invited to join the editorial board, and the manuscript publication fee has been reduced for the benefit of both foreign and domestic authors.

The first issue of Hort. J. will be published as Vol. 84, No. 1 in 2015, succeeding the volume and issue number of JJSHS. In line with the renewal of the journal, an open access website for Hort. J. online version in J-STAGE (https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/browse/hortj) has been launched. The website contains not only Publication but also Advance Publication.

As the online submission/review system and the URL of Hort. J. are the same as those of JJSHS (http://www.editorialmanager.com/jjshs/), the username and password registered for JJSHS submission and/or review can be used in the Hort. J. submission/review system.

The Impact Factor (IF) remains an important index for journal evaluation. As the IFs of JJSHS and Hort. J. are calculated independently, either or both IFs will always be available. The IF of Hort. J. is scheduled to appear in 2017, whereas that of JJSHS will continue to appear that year but will no longer be available from 2018.
