Recent advance in detctors for positron emission tomograph (PEI) is reviewed. Performance of detectors for PET is strongly affected by scintillators used. Thus, perfomance of two new promising scintillators, LSO and GSO is reviewed and compared with that of BGO, which is the most common scintillator for PET. The possibility of performance improvement of PET by using LSO or GSO is also discussed. Detectors used for clinical PETs and several PET detectors using new concepts are reviewed. PET systems using these detector are also presented.
