Abstract

Radiophotoluminescent (RPL) glass dosimeter is one of accumulation type solid state dosimeter, which is based on luminescent phenomenon of an Ag+ activated phosphate glass exposed to ionizing radiation. The RPL centers caused by exposure to ionizing radiation never disappear by the readout operation, and can be read out repeatedly. The goal of the study is to clarify the RPL emission mechanism for the performance gain of the glass dosemeter. In this study, we evaluate the excitation and emission properties of RPL in Ag+ activated phosphate glass and discuss the mechanism of RPL which is based on RPL excitation and emission properties and the optical absorption behavior.
