Medical Image Processing for Supporting High Precision Radiation Therapy

Abstract

  This paper reviews the medical image processing technique for supporting high precision radiation therapy. The radiation therapy consists of four steps, i.e., diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment, and follow-up, where the image processing techniques are employed for increasing treatment accuracy such as segmentation, registration, and pattern recognition. The authors introduce many researches for many applications of the image processing to the radiation therapy.
