Abstract
The angular distortion on welded joints of a spherical tank causes the stress concentration due to the internal pressure. During the operation, flaws relating to welding or corrosion in this part will become surface cracks. The brittle fracture evaluation is required.
This paper describes the strees intensity factor analysis for surface cracks at the angular distortion by the influence function method. The stresses on the virtual crack surface of the uncracked spherical tank are calculated by the coupling method of finite and boundary elements.
