Testing a theoretical model of risk management in facilities Covered by public Aid Long-Term Care to the Elderly

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test a theoretical model of risk management in the facilities covered by public Aid Long-Term Care for Elderly. A survey was conducted by distributing questionnaire sheet to 1740 staff members who had been working at the facilities covered by public Aid Long-Term Care for Elderly in Tokyo. The missing data in the answer sheets were excluded, and the remaining answers given by 367 individuals were regarded as valid. As a result of factor analysis, it was found as follows; (1) accident prevention plans had a 4 factor-structure with 21 items, and (2) the present condition of initiatives had a 5 factor-structure with 21 items. It was also found as follows; (1) the accident prevention plans was calculated as Cronbach's α = 0. 903, and (2) present condition of initiatives was calculated as Cronbach's α = 0. 859. The appropriateness of fit of the model showed as follows; (1) accident prevention plans was CFI = 0.846 and RMSEA = 0.090, and (2) present condition of initiatives was CFI = 0.821 and RMSEA = 0.091. Our developed model was reliable and valid.
