Abstract
In November 2017, the Osaki area in Miyagi Prefecture was designated as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems : GIAHS (FAO). Since the Edo period, the area has built various water systems that match the topography, developed new rice paddies, and formed a large rice production area. In recent years, for over 20 years, they have introduced ”Nature symbiotic agriculture”. The local government has been promoting nature symbiotic agriculture, including the registration of two Ramsar sites in the city. And as part of the recovery plan from the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, they wanted to expand agro-biodiversity agriculture throughout the city and developed local brand by GIAHS. This paper summarizes the process of ” Nature symbiotic agriculture ” in the region, and reports a survey targeting farmers. In addition, I analyze the application of the GIAHS and the implementation of the action plan by applying the P2M framework to show the issues and improvement plan of the platform. I also suggest the community management method called “Value creation model based on nature symbiotic ” as one of the rural development methods.
