In order to meet the government's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, there are calls for efforts toward achieving early decarbonization at ports and harbors, which are centers of both international logistics and substantial energy consumption. Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Ports and Harbours Bureau is currently working toward forming Carbon Neutral Ports (CNPs), and similar moves are underway nationwide. This paper reports the current situation regarding deliberations toward forming CNPs, and looks at what directions future efforts might take.
